Relation to Mining. Quartz crystal is found in many countries and many geologic environments. Major producers of natural quartz crystals are the United States (particularly Arkansas) and Brazil. The Jan Coetzee mine is one of the most famous in the district from the standpoint of mineral specimens, particularly large quartz crystals. It is located about 11 km north of Nababeep.
